Performance review for traders

You knew the rule. You broke it anyway.

FaceTheTrade records you while you trade — so you can watch the exact moment you talked yourself into it.

FaceTheTrade recording a live trade, showing the prompt: Why are you about to enter this trade?

The pattern

You've seen this day before.

  • Good plan at the open. Patient. You know your setup cold.
  • First loss — mild frustration.
  • Second loss — you start forcing.
  • Third loss — the stop moves, size goes up, daily limit gone.
  • That night you pull up the chart. The original setup would have worked.

It was never the strategy.

What this isn't

Not a mindset app.

You've already watched the psychology videos. You can recite the rule you broke five minutes after breaking it. Knowing was never the problem.

This is the film-review discipline athletes and operators use, pointed at your session. Not a course. Not motivation. A performance review system.

How it works

Five things it does that a journal can't.

It records the trade, not the recap.

Video and audio for the length of the trade. Your journal gets written hours later, after hindsight has already cleaned up the story. The tape hasn't.

A trade recording in progress, with the REC indicator and marker counts on screen.

You talk. You never type.

Tap Entering, Feeling, or Exiting and answer out loud. What you say becomes the entry — transcribed on your device, timestamped to the moment you said it.

The Feeling prompt asking how you feel right now, above the End, Entering, Feeling and Exiting buttons.

Graded on process, not P&L.

Every trade gets an A, B, or C on whether you followed your own setup. A lucky win that broke your rule grades below a loss that didn't. Progress is the curve shifting toward A.

A bar chart of graded trades across A, B and C, labelled process quality, not P and L.

Your body flags the moment before you do.

Heart-rate spikes from Apple Watch. The lean toward the screen. The hand to the face. All dropped as markers on the timeline, so you scrub straight to them instead of hunting.

A coach that follows up.

After the trade, your coach — you name it — reviews what you actually said and asks the question you'd ask yourself if you were being honest. Then tracks whether the same pattern shows up again next week.

Privacy

It's your face. It stays on your device.

  • Video and audio never leave your phone. Recording and transcription happen on-device.
  • Auto-delete after 7 days. Transcripts and grades stay; the footage goes.
  • Face ID on the app. Nothing opens without you.
  • The coaching is optional. It sends the text of what you said and low/average/peak BPM — nothing else. Decline it and everything runs on-device.

Fair questions

You're already skeptical. Good.

I've watched psychology videos before.

Those gave you information. This gives you the tape. You're not learning a new rule — you're watching yourself break one you already know.

Will this change behavior, or just motivate me?

It's one bet: you can rationalize a bad trade in writing. It's much harder watching yourself do it.

Can it help live, not just after?

Partly, and honestly. The prompts are live — Entering, Feeling and Exiting make you say your reasoning out loud before you act. The review is after.

Is this for beginners?

No. It assumes you already know your setup cold.

FAQ

Questions.

What is FaceTheTrade?

A video-first performance review system for traders. It records video and audio of you for the length of a trade, marks the moments that matter automatically, and gives you a way to watch back what you actually said and did instead of the version you write down hours later. It is not a course, a strategy service, or a mindset app.

Does my video leave my phone?

No. Video and audio stay on your device and auto-delete after 7 days. The app is locked behind Face ID. If you use the optional coaching feature, only the text of what you said and low, average and peak heart-rate figures are sent — never video, audio, raw sensor data, or your trades. Decline the coaching and everything runs on-device.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. Everything works on iPhone alone. An Apple Watch adds heart-rate markers, so spikes get dropped onto the trade timeline automatically alongside the voice and physical-tell markers.

Which markets or brokers does it work with?

All of them. FaceTheTrade records you, not your platform, so it's independent of what you trade and where you trade it. There's no broker connection and no fill import.

Is this a trading journal?

It produces a review you can export or paste straight into whatever journal you already keep. It's not a trade log — it doesn't track your P&L, positions, or fills. It tracks how you executed.

Is this therapy or a mental health app?

No. FaceTheTrade is a performance review tool for trading execution. It is not therapy, counseling, medical advice, or financial advice.

What does it cost?

Your first 2 trades are fully unlocked with no card. After that, Founding Member pricing is $19.99/month or $199.99/year, locked in for as long as you stay subscribed. The price rises January 1, 2027.

Is FaceTheTrade for beginners?

No. It assumes you already know your setup rules cold. It's built for the gap between knowing the rule and executing it under pressure — not for learning a strategy.

You'll break the rule again this week. The only question is whether you'll watch it happen.
