FaceTheTrade ("the App") is developed by Cup of Coffee Software ("we," "us"). It is a behavioral journaling tool for traders, available as an iPhone app and as a web app at facethetrade.app/app. It records video of you while you trade, turns what you say into a written journal, and gives AI-generated coaching feedback after the trade.
Our principle: your video never leaves the device that recorded it. Your written notes can sync to your account so you can use them on your iPhone and on the web. This policy explains exactly what stays on your device, what goes to our servers, who else receives it, and how to delete it.
When you are signed in, the following sync to your account in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), so your trades appear on your iPhone and on the web:
On iPhone, sync is on only while you are signed in with Apple, Google, or email. Without signing in, everything stays on the iPhone. The web app requires an account because sync is how it works.
This data is kept until you delete it. Deleting a trade removes it from every device. Settings → Delete my cloud data removes all of your synced trades, patterns, names, and answers from our database.
Transcription on the web. When a trade recorded on the web ends, the audio track (never video) is uploaded to our Firebase Cloud Storage, sent once to Google's Gemini API to produce a timestamped transcript, and then deleted from our storage and from Google's file storage. The resulting transcript is saved to your account like any other trade note.
AI coaching reports (optional). When you ask your coach for a review or pattern suggestions, the App sends the following through our Firebase Cloud Function to Google's Gemini API: the text transcript and moments of the trade, your prompt answers, your named patterns, your onboarding answers, heart-rate statistics for the trade (low, average, and peak), and the first name you chose so the coach can address you. No email address or account identifier is included. We use a paid commercial plan whose terms prohibit Google from using this data to train its models. See Google's Gemini API terms.
Accounts. Firebase Authentication manages sign-in. On iPhone it creates an anonymous identifier when you first open the App, which you can later link to Sign in with Apple, Google, or email and password. On the web you sign in with one of those methods. We receive your email address (or Apple's private relay address) and the sign-in provider you used.
App integrity checks. To stop others from misusing our servers, the App proves it is the genuine app when it contacts them: on iPhone through Apple's App Attest, and on the web through Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise, which evaluates signals about your browser and device. These checks are used only for security. See Google's privacy policy.
Subscriptions. Apple processes purchases made in the iPhone app. If you subscribe on our website, Stripe sells the subscription to you as the merchant of record (through Stripe Managed Payments): Stripe processes the payment, calculates and collects any sales tax or VAT, stores the billing details you give it, and handles those under Stripe's privacy policy. We receive your subscription status, the email you checked out with, and a Stripe customer identifier — never your full card number. We store your subscription status with your account so Pro works on every device.
Anonymous usage analytics (on by default; you can turn it off). The App sends anonymized, content-free signals to TelemetryDeck (EU-hosted), for example that a review screen was opened and roughly for how long. Identifiers are hashed so signals cannot be traced back to you. These signals never contain your video, audio, transcripts, answers, patterns, grades, heart rate, or name. Turn this off in onboarding or anytime in Settings ("Share anonymous usage stats").
Our marketing website (facethetrade.app, outside the web app) uses Google Analytics to measure visits.
Security and limits. We keep a small amount of server-side data to run the service safely: a daily count of AI and transcription requests per account (to limit abuse), and the IDs of the trades that used your free trial.
With your permission, the iPhone app reads heart rate and heart-rate variability from your Apple Watch during a recording. It runs a workout session on the Watch only to keep the heart-rate sensor active (no workout is saved to your Health history). Heart-rate data is used only for the features in this policy: marking moments on your timeline, the heart-rate summary synced to your account while you are signed in, and the low/average/peak statistics sent with an AI coaching request. We never use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing, and we never sell it or share it with data brokers.
FaceTheTrade is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 17.
If we change how FaceTheTrade handles data, we will update this page and its effective date, and we will ask you to accept material changes in the App.
